In Praise of Double Sellouts
In January of this year the Islamic Republic murdered over forty thousand unarmed protesters for the crime of wanting a secular, democratic, and prosperous Iran. The regime's oldest trick is to brand every one of them, every protester, every striking worker, every grieving parent, a foreign agent.
The theocracy is horrific, but at least it has true believers willing to die for it. The opportunistic survivors angling for a "Ghalibaf Republic" committed every one of the same crimes and don't even have that. They've sold out the Iranian people and the regime's own zealots alike, and nobody backs them. So we praise them lavishly, because we're certain they'll fail, and because nothing condemns them on the inside faster than a warm word from outside.
The past few months have been a roller-coaster of a war, and it's taking its toll on everyone. We're here to offer some relief, laughter at very dark subjects, and a reminder that the Islamic Republic cannot survive.
We don't know if the clown show of a Ghalibaf Republic is a necessary step toward total regime collapse, but we'll be here to mock it in our own small and creative ways.
